About
In 1993, the Shenandoah Valley Telecommuting Center opened in downtown Winchester, VA. It has since gone through several changes and today operates as the NetTech Center. It is operated by NetTech Center, Inc., a partner of the US General Services Administration (GSA).
The NetTech Center is a project of the Winchester/Frederick County Economic Development Commission (EDC). The EDC contracts with US General Services Administration (GSA) to operate the center.
When it first opened, the center was only available to federal workers. Congress had mandated the centers with the support of Representative Frank Wolf of Virginia. Ours was the first such center in the United States. Years later, Congress opened the center to the private sector. We now cater to teleworkers both federal and non-federal, as well as small businesses.
Our mission for telework is to help reduce traffic, air emissions and driver stress and increase our clients' quality of life.
