Teleworking changes an employee’s work habits and lifestyle, so it’s important to conduct an honest self-assessment to make sure the changes won’t be negative.
A prospective teleworker should take many things into consideration, including:
- Is my work enough to keep me busy while I’m away from the office?
- Can I work independently, without supervision?
- Can I keep in touch with my manager and co-workers without seeing them in person?
- Does my alternative workspace provide all I need to remain productive?
- Will anything in my personal life detract from my work performance?
- Will my schedule allow me to travel to the office as needed?
