Benefits of Telework

Continuity of Operations Planning

Continuity of operations planning (COOP) is a method of preparing for potential disasters and other interruptions to work. Office work can easily be disrupted by natural and man-made disasters, leaving workers unable to perform their duties at a central location. But teleworkers, traveling to alternative locations, are less troubled.

As mandated by Federal law, all government agencies have COOP contingencies in place. Telework is a key feature in these plans. Should a major event befall a Federal agency, its workers can turn to a nearby telework center and conduct their business with minimal disruption.

Large companies in high-population areas can also be disrupted by emergencies, so they too can benefit greatly from telework strategies. Workers who take their work with them can move along with business undeterred.
