Testimonials
I currently drive 65 miles one-way to get to my very rewarding job in the Intelligence Community (IC ). One day every two weeks I telecommute saving me over 3 hours in commuting plus the cost of gasoline. It is a trememdous benefit to me mentally (no traffic headaches and saving the environment) to know I can work my unclassified issues only 5 minutes from home. If I were able, I would telecommute much more.

The Jefferson County Telework Center (hereafter JCTC) is to me, my quality of life, and to the region. I am a contract specialist with the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA). I am a resident of Lovettsville, Loudoun County, VA, and I telecommute two days a week from JCTC. It takes me approximately twenty minutes to get to the JCTC versus an hour and a half to go to my office in Washington, D.C. The days that I telecommute to the JCTC, which allow me to regain control of my life, and my sanity, for two days a week. I am able to perform better on the job since I obtain much needed extra sleep on those days, and I actually have time to relax and enjoy two early evenings a week at home to do all of the things that people enjoy doing in their spare time. Once I am further along in my career, I can foresee working at least three, and maybe four, days a week at the JCTC. I cannot stress enough how this extra time allows me to be better rested, more relaxed, and as a result, more productive while working.

I work for the Federal Highway Administration under the Department of Transportation. I have teleworked one day a week for the past 14 years with most of that time at the Jefferson County Telework Center. This opportunity has been great since I spend one less day commuting to the suburbs of Washington, DC and more time with my family. Also with the rising cost of gas, working close to home has helped save on weekly gas expenses. Our agency has really been pushing our employees to telework once a week and having a center available in Jefferson County gives those of us a couple of options that live in this area. I enjoy working at the Jefferson County Telecommuting Center because it has all the necessary equipment I need to perform my job.

I have found the telework center it to be a great resource , allowing me to work locally - it helped my family vastly during various periods over this span of time giving me the ability to work locally and deal with family health care issues. Telework Centers benefit the government by saving commuting time and allowing me to dedicate additional time to working at my job. My productivity has always been very high when using the telework center. As a result my management has grown comfortable with my use of the telework center - knowing that I am connected, actively working, focusing my energy on my job related responsibilities instead of wasting time and energy in gridlock.
